Saving Our Sons

Earlier this year the Front Porch National Conference: "Just Gospel" took place. You can view the talks here but I would like to highlight a specific panel discussion that took place featuring two of my favorite people; Eric Mason and Bobby Manning. Both are husbands, fathers, and pastors. Both of them are working hard in the trenches and are worth giving an ear.

Purpose

Awhile ago a friend asked me to help him flesh out the topic purpose . He specifically asked me to think of 5 questions on the subject. Now of course when he asked me the question it had already been a log day. So I didn't get the chance to muse on the subject that night because I was fried. I love Sunday! I love the body of Christ, the church! I love worship! I love the preaching of God's word! One of the blessings, for me, during this COVID-19 world we are living in right now, even though I miss worshipping with my church family deeply, is I have the opportunity to visit many churches I always wanted to virtually. Some of you may even be thinking, "that's not really visiting." Your right. So let me tell you what's important to me when visiting a church. Whether virtually or in person. At this point I want to say that I realize that my personal preferences are not God's. They are mine. So let me share what my preferences are.  I love the preaching of God's truth! I Love You Mom

This morning I had the pleasure of worshipping with a few different communities of faith. That's one of the silver linings of this "shelter in place" time. Maybe you've even noticed that the past few weeks I've posted quotes from some of the messages I've heard with the #SundaysBest tag. Of course, IMHO. This morning I heard something that I thought was absolutely beautiful from Jamell Meeks, the First Lady of Salem Baptist Church of Chicago . It was during today's special Mother's Day service at my church, the First Baptist Church of Glenarden . She said, The children want you to be present more than they want you to be perfect.  This past Wednesday, my mother went home to be home with the Lord.
